Hi everyone, I’m Olivia the new intern here at Kentucky Taste Buds! I’m originally from Knoxville, Tennessee but I’ve had the privilege to call Lexington home for the last few years as a now senior at the University of Kentucky. I grew up next to Appalachia and as I got older, even visiting Lexington thanks to my older sister going to UK before me. I have a true love for southern comfort and community and can’t wait to dig in a little deeper in Lexington.
I’m currently majoring in journalism with a minor in French language so I love writing and learning about different cultures. I also had the opportunity to study abroad in Paris, France this past spring and fell in love with the city and Europe as a whole. I’m a bit of a history nerd so I thrived being able to go to so many new museums and monuments through my travels (I could quite literally talk about it for hours but I’ll leave it at that for now). Aside from school, I’m an avid reader and media consumer, from podcasts to music to films and more. Especially as fall approaches, I’m getting prepped to start rewatching Gilmore Girls and bake pumpkin bread so look out for fall specific content!
On UK’s campus I am also involved in the student media organization KRNL as both a contributing lifestyle writer and the online content editor as well as being a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. Thanks to both of these organizations I found my community in Lexington and now, hopefully, through my contributions to Kentucky Taste Buds, I’ll be accepted into your community as well.
I absolutely love living in Kentucky, from the excitement of Keeneland in the spring to the hope for a football win in the fall, I can’t get enough. I’m sure most of you all feel the same so I think we’ll get along swimmingly.
I couldn’t be more thankful to be involved here at Taste Buds and to be able to share what I learn through my last year of school. I’m excited to eat, travel, dress, and walk with y’all through life this semester as I work with Tam and Leigh. Expect to see more from me soon!
