Windy Corner Market is one of my favorite restaurants I’ve found in Kentucky. From the peaceful location to the delicious food, it’s a gem! Of course, it's just one of eight restaurants by famed local chef Ouita Michel, so you know it's going to be good before you set foot through the door.
Tucked amidst horse farms and rolling hills, this restaurant has an element of peacefulness that never fails to make me smile. It’s especially great to visit in the summer, but there’s no time of the year you can go and not enjoy the beautiful view of the surrounding horse farms.
Windy Corner serves a variety of foods, including burgers, po boys, pastries, pie and more. They also have a market portion where you can buy many local items including, but not limited to, craft beer, coffee, and local jams and sauces. This time, I went with the Bourbon Chili Nachos and the Big Blue Burger.
The Bourbon Chili Nachos were topped with bourbon trail chili, white cheddar, diced tomatoes, green onions, lettuce and sour cream. The Big Blue Burger had bourbon bacon jam, pimento blue cheese, shredded lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion and special sauce. I ordered it without pickles and onions.
The nachos were good, and I especially liked the cherry tomatoes on them. I thought the flavor profile was wonderfully complex. There was a good amount of toppings on them, and the presentation was appealing. They came in a beautiful wooden bowl that I absolutely loved.
The burger was my favorite item of the day! It was cooked perfectly, making it a nice texture. My favorite part of it was the bourbon bacon jam. It is definitely something I’d order again!
I’ve been to Windy Corner several times, and I’ve never been disappointed. If you’re in the area, stop in and enjoy it for yourself!
