Hi! My name is Nikki Edds and I am so excited to be a fall intern with Kentucky Taste Buds! I am currently a senior at the University of Kentucky studying print journalism with a minor in
English. I have loved reading and writing since I was a child and aspire to one day work in the editorial division of book publishing. On top of being a full-time student, I also work as an assistant lifestyle editor for the KRNL and as a publishing analyst intern for Cottage Door Press.
Kentucky Taste Buds caught my eye due to its personal and down-to-earth writing style with a local twist. I am from LaGrange, KY originally and have lived there almost my entire life, making me a true bluegrass girl. I am a huge believer that Kentucky has so many things to offer, whether that be entertainment, food, nightlife, music, fashion and so much more- you just have to know how to look for it. And Kentucky Taste Buds are here to help :)
While I am a very busy college student, I know how important it is to enjoy yourself and take advantage of everything this stage of life has to offer. For me, that means I use my free time reading (I try to read at least one book a week!), attending classes at Cyclebar, spoiling my cat, Meeko, or going for a night on the town with my boyfriend and my closest friends.
As my time as a student comes to end, I often find myself overwhelmed with everything that being an adult entails. As any mentor, parent, or anyone else that has been in my position before will tell me, now is the time I should be soaking up every possible experience that there is. There is not a doubt in my mind that the University of Kentucky and Lexington is where I was meant to spend this period in my life. I have learned so much from this city and the people in it and plan on taking this semester to share all of those things with you!
