Jackpot! Your Next Getaway Is Closer Than You Think

What if I told you that you could check into a resort, book a spa treatment, have a great dinner, catch a concert, hit the casino and never get back in your car — all without buying a plane ticket to Las Vegas?

That’s what I love most about a getaway to Caesars Southern Indiana. Tucked away in Elizabeth, Indiana, just 20 minutes from downtown Louisville, it’s become one of my favorite easy escapes. I’ve visited many times, and while the casino may be the big draw, it’s everything else that keeps me coming back — great food, live entertainment, a little pampering and plenty of ways to turn a quick trip into a fun weekend getaway.
First, This Place Is BIG
Bring your tennis shoes, because you will definitely get your steps in if you stay at the hotel! There’s a lot to explore, and the story behind Caesars Southern Indiana is pretty interesting, too. What was once the Horseshoe Southern Indiana riverboat casino was replaced in 2019 by a $90 million, 110,000-square-foot land-based casino and entertainment facility, bringing gaming, dining, bars and entertainment together under one roof.
And, of course, there’s the casino. The gaming floor is filled with hundreds of slot machines, from classic favorites to the newest games and video poker, plus plenty of table-game action including blackjack, craps (my favorite), roulette and more. Poker players have a dedicated poker room, and sports fans can head to The Book to catch the big games and place their bets. Whether you’re a serious player or, like me, just enjoy trying your luck and taking in all the excitement, there’s no shortage of ways to play.

But here’s the thing — you don’t have to be a big gambler to have a great time at Caesars. The attached hotel has more than 500 rooms and suites, making it easy to turn a night out into a full weekend getaway. There’s even an indoor pool, so you can take a swim no matter what the Southern Indiana weather decides to do — and we all know that can change by the hour!

Eat, Drink and Make a Night of It
Come hungry, because the food is definitely part of the Caesars Southern Indiana experience. One of the big draws is Gordon Ramsay Steak, where you can make a night of it with steaks, seafood and some of Ramsay’s signature dishes in a more upscale setting — perfect for a date night or special occasion. We had the filet and it was delicious!

If you’re looking for variety, The Piazza offers a more casual food-hall experience with several choices all in one spot. And yes, there’s a buffet, which is always a casino favorite and a great option when everyone in your group wants something different. Add in casual bites, bars and lounges for cocktails, and you can easily spend an entire weekend at Caesars without eating the same way twice. My advice: arrive hungry — because between the restaurants, drinks and all the other temptations, you’re going to want to try a little bit of everything!

Yes, You Can Actually Relax at a Casino Resort
Indulge The Spa gives you the chance to add a little pampering to your trip with massages, facials, nail treatments and more.
And if relaxing for you means hitting the links, bring your golf clubs. Chariot Run Golf Club, located just a short drive from Caesars, is an 18-hole championship course with beautiful rolling terrain and plenty of challenges for golfers of all skill levels. It’s an easy way to add an afternoon on the course to your casino getaway.
I love that you can mix and match the experience depending on your mood — casino excitement at night, golf in the morning, followed by a massage or some time by the pool.
Now that sounds like a pretty good weekend to me.
And Then There’s the Entertainment
Caesars Southern Indiana isn’t just about slots and table games — they bring in some pretty big names, too. The Caesars Event Center hosts concerts, comedy and special events throughout the year, and the current lineup includes Jay Leno, comedian Rodney Carrington and Everclear’s Lucky 7 Tour. And if you’re looking for something a little more casual, VOLT Lounge is another fun spot to grab a drink and catch live music.

My advice? Check the entertainment calendar before you plan your visit. Find a show you want to see, book a room, make dinner reservations and suddenly you’ve turned one night out into an entire weekend getaway. Even better, Caesars offers hotel and show packages, so you can bundle your show tickets and hotel room together and potentially save.
And since everything is right there, when the show ends, the night definitely doesn’t have to!
Sports fans also have The Book, the property's sportsbook. When the land-based casino opened, The Book featured 30 large television screens along with wagering windows and kiosks — making this an especially fun destination during football season.
What I Liked Most
For me, the biggest selling point is that Caesars Southern Indiana is easy — and it’s just plain fun.
Sometimes you want to get away without turning the getaway itself into a production. No airport. No rental car. No complicated itinerary. Just pack a bag, grab a friend or your significant other and go.
That’s probably why I keep going back. Every trip can be a little different, but it’s always a good time. And because it’s so close to Lexington, it feels far enough away to be a real getaway without actually being that far away.
It Pays to Be a Caesars Rewards Member

One thing I definitely recommend before you visit is signing up for Caesars Rewards — it’s free, and if you’re going to be eating, playing and staying at Caesars, you might as well get rewarded for it! Members can earn Reward Credits through casino play and eligible spending at Caesars properties, then redeem those credits for things like hotel stays, dining and other experiences. The program also has different status levels, with additional perks and benefits as you move up the tiers. And keep that Caesars Rewards card handy, because members can also take advantage of special promotions, offers and giveaways throughout the year.
Which brings me to one promotion that gives a whole new meaning to “sweetening the deal.”
October Is Looking Pretty Sweet
Caesars Southern Indiana is bringing back the fun with its Sweet Treat promotion, and this one has a little Willy Wonka feel to it.

On October 2–3 and October 9–10, Caesars Rewards members age 21 and older can swipe their Rewards card at the Promotions Counter to receive a complimentary candy bar, while supplies last.
But don't eat it without checking it first!
Select candy bars contain winning tickets, with thousands of prizes up for grabs.
And we're not just talking about another candy bar.
Prizes include five $10,000 cash prizes, Free Play prizes of up to $5,000, complimentary hotel stays, a cruise, dining credits and even concert tickets.
So yes, you could walk into Caesars for a free candy bar and walk out $10,000 richer.
Not bad for satisfying your sweet tooth.
And this October, your getaway might just come with a very sweet ending.
Must be 21 or older to participate in casino promotions and gaming. Sweet Treat prizes are available while supplies last. Check Caesars Southern Indiana for complete promotional rules, eligibility requirements, current dining hours and entertainment schedules.
So now, I have given you many reasons to check out Caesars Southern Indiana. Between the hotel, restaurants, spa, pool, gaming and live entertainment, this is a perfect one-stop shop for fun! It’s an easy little escape that's practically in our backyard. So plan your getaway, enjoy everything Caesars Southern Indiana has to offer, and remember—the best bet is always to have fun and gamble responsibly!
