Fall Fashion at Carl Meyers

Updated: Oct 6, 2019

When it comes to women’s fashion, we are fortunate to have a bevy of wonderful stores to shop from here in Lexington, many of which are locally owned, something we here at KY Taste Buds get all giddy about. One of the finest of these businesses is Carl Meyers located on charming Clay Avenue. Until a few months ago, however, it isn’t one we had visited before. Now that we have…oh, boy, are we in love! Since fall is our favorite time of year for fashion, we thought it the most opportune time to have the ladies at Carl Meyers show us beautiful pieces that will take us from Keeneland to UK football games and everywhere in between.

First, let’s start off by saying that if you are a person who doesn’t like to shop and are pressed for time (and who isn’t these days), then the service that you get at Carl Meyers will save you lots of time and headache. Simply call ahead and give Sherri, the owner, or one of her very helpful staff your measurements and an idea of what you’re looking for, and when you arrive, they will have pieces already pulled and waiting for you to try on. No more searching rack after rack for one pair of black pants in your size. Even better, they will probably pull some items that you may never have given a second look because you didn’t think it was your style. Give it a try! You never know how things will look until you put them on your body!

Another wonderful thing about Carl Meyers that you are hard-pressed to find anywhere else is customization. Most of their pieces can be altered and made in a variety of colors, so you are sure to get the highest quality and best-fitting apparel that will set you apart from most people. This is a huge value to you!

Now the fun part! Take a look and see the fantastic outfits they put us in for our photo shoot!

Leigh is a huge fan of black and white, so this Brochu Walker wrap silk houndstooth blouse paired with Estelle and Finn black step-up-hem ankle pant could take her so many places and not just this fall, but pretty much year-round!

Animal prints are huge for fall, and this Marella leopard print tunic dress is one you can style so many different ways! The Marella pants in tobacco that Tamara is wearing are trending; paired with the cream Marella blouse and Rani Arabella Italian cashmere and silk equestrian-inspired scarf is quintessential Keeneland.

Leigh’s Iris Setlakwe black high-neck dress with leather belt and the Caroline Hill faux snakeskin clutch can easily go from work to a night on the town. The Vassa red dress on Tamara is ravishing and reminds us so much of Kate Middleton! The perfect accessory is the Catherine Carson leather belt with 22kt gold buckle.

For a completely elegant look that will make you a standout at the track, the Iris Setlakwe oyster wide-leg pant, the Rani Arabella cashmere and silk Italian scarf, and the LD Carey suede hat is perfection. Did you know Carl Meyers has a milliner in residence? Remember that when it comes time for next year’s Derby!

The Marella houndstooth blouse has a sheen to it that makes it more than your average blouse and the maroon LD Carey suede hat is fall personified.

Leigh looks ready for the races in this Marella black tunic dress with red and gold tassels. For cool fall days, you will stay warm and cozy in this Kinross cashmere camel coat that Tamara is wearing. This comes in a variety of colors, so it is a wardrobe basic that you can’t live without!

Every lady needs a hat in Kentucky! Leigh is lovely in this LD Carey rain hat with white flowers.

Don’t let us have all the fun! Get down to Clay Avenue and visit with Sherri and her staff at Carl Meyers. It is an unparalleled shopping experience that you will never forget!

Thanks to Hunter Mitchell Photography for our wonderful photo shoot! For our makeup, we chose the Bobbi Brown counter at Dillard's. Jalise, makeup artist extraordinaire, gave us fall looks to complement our clothes. We love Bobbi Brown's newly released autumn eye shadow palette, and their foundation will take 10 years off! Thanks, Jalise! Below is a video of our amazing experience.
