Louisville is the largest city in Kentucky which means it has a ton of fun stuff going on all the time! It’s a great destination for a staycation, which is exactly what Leigh and I had last weekend. We were invited to come and stay at the amazing Aloft Hotel located on West Main Street, so we made the most out of our 48 hours in the ‘Ville by taking in all that the downtown area has to offer. The fact that we were staying right where all the action is meant we didn’t have
Chinese New Year, or known to some as the Lunar New Year, is an annual celebration of the beginning of the new year on the Chinese calendar. This year, the official observance of Chinese New Year kicks off with the festival portion of the celebration on February 5, known as the Spring Festival in modern China. The celebration ends with what is known as the Lantern Festival, which takes place February 19. However, preparations for the festivities began as early as January 28.
I've been spending a lot of time in Louisville lately. After Leigh and I went to our first Derby this year, I've been back there a few times a month for my day job. The upside to this is I'm checking out all kinds of really cool places to eat and drink. We made a repeat appearance this past weekend to see what else there could possibly be to learn about this world famous libation, and believe us, there's a lot! We star
Once a year, there is a pilgrimage that many people make all across this great nation, one that harkens back to a simpler time and is a slice of pure Americana. It's time for the state fair! Having never attended our own Kentucky State Fair, Leigh and I set out to experience this spectacle for ourselves and, boy, are we ever glad we did! Kentucky's State Fair, lasting 11 days, is held every August in Louisville, Kentucky at, oddly enough, the fair grounds adjacent to Freedo
Tucked away in the Norton Commons development just northeast of downtown Louisville, you will find the most luxurious bed and breakfast you could imagine. If you prefer your accommodations to be more on the luxurious side with lots of good food and your every need accounted for, Chateau Bourbon should be your destination. Leigh and I wanted to have a mini-staycation, a simple 24-hour period of delicious food, laughter and a feeling of being a million miles away from the real
