June 4th is National Donut Day and you’d be crazy not to celebrate! One thing Lexington, Kentucky is not lacking is donut shops, many of which are locally owned. To help make it easier for you, here’s a list of some Lexington donut shops and their deals for National Donut Day. Choose wisely...or risk the sugar rush and try them all!
North Lime Coffee & Donuts: Visit the well-known North Lime Coffee & Donuts for 75¢ Sprinkle Explosion Donuts. The specials for the day will be: Gluten Friendly Blueberry Cake, Vegan Blackberry Filled, Sprinkle Explosion, and Coffee Cake. Pre-order the specials online or stop by the store for the full experience. While you’re there, grab a cup of their delicious coffee to go with it! My favorite is the Iced Caramel Macchiato for summertime! They have two locations now: Clays Mill Shopping Center and their new spot down at Greyline Station on Loudon Ave.
Magee’s Bakery: One of my favorites in the area is Magee’s Bakery! Stop by on National Donut Day to get one of their tasty glazed donuts on the house (one donut per customer), or opt for the best chocolate glazed donuts in Lexington. But get there early; these pastries go FAST!
Dunkin Donuts: It’s your favorite coffee and donut duo. Visit Dunkin’ Donuts for a free donut of your choice with any beverage purchase! Take my advice and try an Iced Caramel Cappuccino. You’ll thank me later!
Krispy Kreme: Of course, we can’t forget THE Krispy Kreme Donuts. This world-wide favorite is offering one free donut of your choice! That’s a pretty hard decision in my opinion, but that’s why you should visit all the others first!
Spalding’s Bakery: If a deal isn’t your top priority for National Donut Day and you’re in it for the spirit of the holiday, stop by Spalding’s Bakery for their delicious donuts, pastries (Cream Horns) and more! They are a Lexington staple that's been hand-forming their doughnuts since 1929.
Donut Days Bakery: Top off your National Donut Day with a visit to Donut Days Bakery where every day is Donut Day! The name is pretty fitting if you ask me. Give your tastebuds the deal of a lifetime with one (or more) of their many tasty donuts and pastries! Saddle up on a stool at their breakfast bar, eat your donut and talk with the regulars about why Donut Days is such a special place in Lexington.
