Nic and Norman's Restaurant Review!

Updated: Nov 30, 2022

By Intern Jeff Wagoner

Nic & Norman's opened their third location right here in Lexington earlier this year. This restaurant was founded by Greg Nicotero and Norman Reedus, both of whom work on the very popular show The Walking Dead, Norman on camera and Greg behind it. “When the opportunity came to open a restaurant in Senoia, we knew it was a natural extension of our passion. We hope you capture a few of those special moments here,” They both said in the about section on their website. I recently had the chance to visit this location and was super excited to go, since I loved the show and the people behind the restaurant.

Inside the restaurant, it has pictures on the wall of Greg and Norman, some together and some solo. The atmosphere was amazing for a smaller place and yet it still felt big inside. They had a long bar on the right side and plenty of seating throughout the place. We had a reservation, so we were seated immediately, it doesn’t seem that you need one to eat there though. There was a page from “The Walking Dead” graphic novel sitting above our table, which was really cool also being a fan of the books. Our waiter came to take our drink orders. We got five drinks in total off their cocktail menu: the Kentucky Colada, Reedus Ruffian, Private Johnson, Cucumber Mule, and the Cinnamon Ghost Crunch. All three were unique and tasted good. They have a cocktail for everyone, including non-alcoholic ones, and they also serve beer from a lot of local breweries such as West Sixth and Blue Stallion.

When it came to food, there was no shortage of options. We started with the Sticky Rib Tips. These came out to our table immediately, and they were great. They were covered in N&N BBQ sauce and fell right off the bone. We then ordered our main meals, the Shrimp and Grits Cake, Whiskey Citrus Salmon (what I got), and the Pimento Bacon Burger. The salmon tasted great, probably one of my favorites now. Even though I’m not a huge grits fan, the sauce and the shrimp really made that dish pop with flavor. I wasn’t able to try the burger but was told it was also very good. Looking over the menu as well, there are plenty of options for any dietary restrictions.

If you are looking for a place to go for lunch or an evening out that has great food and a variety of drinks, this is definitely a place you should try. The atmosphere was great and the service even better. I would put this as a new top place to go in downtown Lexington. For more information, you can go to this link.
